Swallow (german: Schwalbe) is the name of a popular GDR scooter model. It was built from 1958 to 1986 by Simson in Thuringia. More than a quarter of a century after it’s production has been stopped, there is still a huge flock of those birds breeding in Berlin. Maybe their habit of mating shamelessly in more or less dark corners saved them from extinction so far.
